What is Wireless Charging?

Wireless charging is becoming a pretty standard feature across the market as a whole, so we’re pleased to see it becoming available in the vehicles we sell right here at Wheaton Honda. In order to utilize wireless charging in a vehicle, you must have a Qi-enabled smartphone or portable device. Qi is the globally-recognized standard in wireless charging, so a majority of devices today are Qi-enabled, meaning you should have nothing to worry about as long as you aren’t using a very old device.

What being Qi-enabled means, is that your device can be charged without even being plugged in. The wireless charging feature found in Honda vehicles and other automobiles across the market is a small platform or cubby hole that is equipped with a Qi charging pad. All you have to do is leave your device on this pad, and it will commence charging. That means you don’t have to worry about wires in the car anymore.

Additionally, you should never have to worry about losing your charge on the go, even if you’re streaming music through your display audio system from your phone. If you’re interested in finding a wireless charging-equipped vehicle, be sure to give us a call!
