2017 Honda Ridgeline Overall Vehicle Safety Rating

Even when it comes to pickup trucks like the 2017 Honda Ridgeline, safety is one of the most important aspects in vehicles today. That’s not to say it wasn’t in the past, but as advancements in safety technologies continue to rise, it is becoming more and more important for vehicles to offer the best of the best. Beyond looking for the features that are important to you, one of the best ways to find out if a vehicle is up to your standards is to find its safety ratings. And one of the best sources for safety ratings, is the United States’ National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

How did the Ridgeline score?

While the NHTSA ranks many different categories for each vehicle it tests, the most important is of course the Overall Vehicle Rating. In order to achieve a 5-star rating in Overall category, you have to score very high in all of the other categories. Those categories include frontal crash tests for both the driver’s and passenger’s sides, side crash tests for both the front and rear seats, and then a rollover test. The 2017 Ridgeline achieved a 4-star rating in the rollover test, and 5 stars in the other four, netting it a 5-star Overall Vehicle Safety Rating.

While these tests have a lot to do with the vehicle’s structure and architecture, driver-assistive safety technologies are almost just as important in today’s market. The Ridgeline is decked out with tons of these technologies thanks to the Honda Sensing safety suite, which equips vehicles with things like a Collision Mitigation Braking System.
