2017 Honda Clarity Other Trim Levels

Not too long ago we filled you in on Honda plans for the Clarity Fuel Cell Vehicle, which is Honda’s entry into the alternative fuel sources race. We’re not sure if or when it might be heading up here to the Canadian market, but we’re still watching the vehicle’s progress closely. Which is precisely why we were quite excited to catch wind of the other trim levels for the 2017 Honda Clarity. It looks like the FCV won’t be the only model hitting the U.S. market next year, and we hope all three members of the new Clarity trio will soon be available in Edmonton.

“The Honda Clarity Series will provide customers with a well-equipped, premium, midsize vehicle with range of ultra-low-carbon powertrain options to suit their lifestyle needs. This Honda trio of dedicated, advanced Technology vehicles, along with the expanded application of two- and three-motor hybrid systems to our core models, represents a strong commitment to Honda’s future and will help create a new volume pillar for electrified vehicle sales.”

What are the other Honda Clarity models?

In addition to the Fuel Cell model, Honda recently announced that the Clarity will also have an all-electric model and a plug-in hybrid model, called the Clarity Electric and Clarity Plug-in Hybrid respectively. This is the first time on the market that one vehicle platform will offer all three of these powertrain options. Not very much is known yet about the specifics of either additional trim level for the Clarity, other than the fact that the Electric will go on sale in the U.S. in early 2017, followed by the Plug-in Hybrid later that year.

As we stated, we don’t yet know if any of these Clarity models will make their way up to Edmonton, but we have our fingers crossed. Considering the Clarity Electric and Clarity Plug-in Hybrid don’t need special fueling stations, those two models may be more likely to make their way here. We’ll keep you posted as more information about the 2017 Honda Clarity and its other trim levels becomes available.
